What I’m reading.
After the recommendation of 2 great sources, I’ve been nose deep in this well written and inspiringly laid out guide to turning your creativity into a habit (and then hopefully, a productive occupation).

It has sound advice on how to make positive habit and rituals a part of your routine, and clearly states that there is no shortcut to success – in arts or in business. I personally believe that the more hardworking you are, the luckier you get – because you’ll be more open to opportunities and would be able to recognize them. I love how this book stresses on building yourself up through constantly challenging your ideas, and to conquer the fear of creating.

I like the book’s mix of tangible and holistic thoughts – driven by the idea that creativity is a habit, something you can train yourself into. Creativity is like a muscle – you have to train it, stretch and grow before you can lift enough weights to break a world record.
- Code for Something

I’m only a thid of the way in, but I’m reading it in preparation of a creative makeover. Ideas for making artmaking more of a habit, and unpaid work less of one are swirling around in my head.
